Christmas Gift Tags and Cards

Tags, labels and card blanks that print on ordinary card and cut out with scissors. Four tag designs, place cards for the table, three card templates, food labels for a buffet and a bunting sheet. Type names in before printing if you want them set, or leave the fields blank and write them by hand.

Print, cut, done

Every sheet is laid out on a grid with cut lines, so a guillotine does a page in four passes and scissors take about three minutes. Tags have a punch mark showing where the hole goes, placed far enough from the edge that the card does not tear when the string is pulled.

Nothing needs a special paper size, a die cutter or a craft shop. 160gsm card from a supermarket is the right material for all of it, and everything is drawn to print at 100 percent scaling on A4 or US Letter.

Typing names in

The tags, place cards and food labels all take typed text, which is worth doing for a table setting or a large pile of presents, because handwriting twenty-four tags at eleven at night is a known mistake. Everything is generated in your browser, so no names are uploaded anywhere.

If you prefer handwriting, print the blank version. The To and From lines are ruled and spaced for an adult hand rather than being decorative, which is more unusual than it should be.

Four tag designs that do not clash

The four designs are deliberately different rather than variations on one idea: a traditional holly design, a plain Scandinavian style, a colour-in version for children, and an editable minimal design for typed names. A pile of presents tagged with a mix of two of them looks considered. A pile with all four looks like a sampler.

Questions

What paper should I print gift tags on?
160gsm card. Lighter card bends when the string is pulled and copier paper tears at the punch hole. Most supermarket card is 160gsm and works perfectly.
Can I type names onto the tags before printing?
Yes. Tags, place cards and food labels all accept typed text, which is much faster than writing twenty-four tags by hand. Everything is generated in your browser and nothing is uploaded.
Where does the hole go on a gift tag?
A punch mark is printed on every tag, set far enough in from the edge that the card does not tear when the string is pulled. Use a standard 6mm punch.
Are the tags free?
Yes. Every design in this section is free to print with no account and no watermark, for personal use and for school or charity events.
