Scandinavian Christmas Gift Tags

Geometric trees, eight point stars, plain snowflakes and a single berry sprig, drawn with one line weight and a lot of white space. No text printed on the tag beyond a thin rule, so you write the name wherever you like. Designed to be printed in black on kraft or white card.

Why a plain tag is easier to use

A busy tag competes with the wrapping paper. A plain one works with whatever you have, which matters when the paper is whatever was left in the shop. These tags carry one motif and a rule, and they look deliberate against patterned paper and plain paper equally.

They also photograph well, which is a real consideration if you wrap gifts for a small business or sell at a craft fair.

Six motifs, one weight

Triangular tree, eight point star, six-sided snowflake, berry sprig, plain bauble on a line, and a simple heart. All drawn at the same stroke weight so a mixed sheet still reads as one set. The sheet can be printed as one motif twelve times or as a mix.

One motif repeated across a whole pile of presents looks the most finished. A mix is better for a hamper or a stack where each parcel is different anyway.

Card and ink

Kraft card at 160gsm printed in black is the combination this design was drawn for. White card works. Coloured card other than kraft tends to fight the minimal look, and glossy card makes the thin lines look printed rather than drawn.

There is a reverse option that prints the motif as white on a solid block, for anyone who wants the opposite effect. It uses considerably more ink.

Questions

What motifs are in the Scandi tag set?
Six: a triangular tree, an eight point star, a six-sided snowflake, a berry sprig, a bauble on a line and a simple heart, all drawn at a single stroke weight.
Should I print one motif or a mix?
One motif across a whole pile of presents looks the most finished. A mix suits a hamper or a stack of parcels that are all different anyway.
Is there text printed on the tag?
Only a thin rule. There is no printed To and From, so you write the name wherever suits the motif you picked.
What card suits these tags?
Kraft at 160gsm printed in black is what the design was drawn for. White card also works. Avoid glossy card, which makes the thin lines look printed rather than drawn.
