A decorated frame round an otherwise empty page. Six designs, three weights and three things you can put inside the frame. The border is the page, not a strip of decoration at the top: it runs the whole way round and leaves the middle for whatever you were going to put there.
Six designs and what each one is made of
Holly is a run of two leaf sprigs with three berries each. Snowflakes alternates a large six armed flake with a small one. Stars does the same with a five point star. Candy stripe is a diagonal barber band between two rails with a diamond at each corner, and it is the one that reads strongest from across a room. Scandi alternates a diamond with an eight point asterisk. Baubles hangs small round shapes off the rule all the way round, two sizes turn and turn about.
The Weight control sets how heavily the frame is drawn. Fine is for a page that will carry a lot of writing or a photograph, Standard is the default, and Bold is for a notice or a cover where the frame has to do the work on its own.
The Inside control is the one that decides the job
Blank leaves the whole middle empty, which is the setting for a handwritten letter on your own lines, a drawing, a photograph glued in, or a certificate you are going to fill in by hand.
Lined gives exactly twelve widely spaced rules across the middle. Twelve is deliberate and low: this page sells the border, and a full pad of writing lines belongs to the Christmas writing paper instead. Dotted gives a dot grid at 12mm, which suits lettering, a sketch or a child who wants guidance without ruled lines.
The same sheet every time
There is no Regenerate button here and the sheet does not change when you reload. The border is the same arrangement of the same motifs on every visit, which is what you want when you printed ten last week and need two more that match.
The frame is 178mm by 259mm on A4, centred, with a small grey christmasu.com line at the foot and nothing else. Print at 100 percent scaling with Fit to Page off, or the frame shrinks by a few millimetres and a second batch no longer lines up with the first.
Questions
- How many Christmas border designs are there?
- Six: holly, snowflakes, stars, candy stripe, scandi and baubles. Each one prints at three line weights, so there are eighteen combinations before you choose what goes inside the frame.
- Can I get writing lines inside the border?
- Yes. The Inside control has Blank, Lined and Dotted. Lined gives twelve widely spaced rules, which is enough for a short letter without turning the sheet into a writing pad.
- How big is the printed frame?
- About 178mm by 259mm on A4, centred on the page with a small address line at the foot. On US Letter the frame adjusts to the paper rather than being cropped.
- Does the border change each time I load the page?
- No. It is the same sheet every time, which is deliberate. If you printed a batch last week and need two more to match, you will get the same frame rather than a new arrangement.
