Difficulty that means something
Easy questions are the ones most adults will get: how many days of Christmas, what colour are poinsettia leaves, which country does the Christmas tree tradition come from. Hard questions need either specific knowledge or a good guess: the date the Christmas truce began, the original language of Silent Night, the number of gifts in total across all twelve days.
Mixed is the setting to use for a family or an office. A quiz where everyone gets about half right is more fun than one where two people get everything and nobody else scores.
Sheet layout
Questions print numbered with a ruled answer line each, in a type size that stays readable in a dim pub or a living room with only the tree lights on. The answer copy repeats each question with the answer in bold underneath, so marking is quick.
Twenty questions fits one side of A4. Thirty needs two sides, and forty is where you should split it into rounds instead, which the quiz rounds page is built for.
Running a quiz without a fight
Read each question twice, then move on, and give the whole answer when you mark rather than just the word, because half the arguments in a Christmas quiz are about whether a near miss counts. Swap sheets between teams for marking if you want it to stay honest.
Questions
- Does the printable Christmas quiz include answers?
- Yes. You get a player sheet with ruled answer lines and a separate marked copy with every answer in bold, so you can keep the answers out of sight while people play.
- How many questions can I print?
- Ten to forty, drawn at random from a bank of around three hundred. Twenty fits on one side of A4 and takes about twenty minutes to play.
- Will I get the same quiz if I print again?
- No. Questions are drawn at random each time, so a second print gives you a different quiz from the same bank. Save the PDF if you want to keep a particular set.
- Can I set the difficulty?
- Yes. Easy, hard or mixed. Mixed is the best setting for a family or office group, because a quiz where everybody gets about half right is more enjoyable than one that a single person dominates.
