One generator holding six games, chosen from the Game list above the sheet: the left right passing game, a scavenger hunt, charades cards to cut up, would you rather, a mad libs story and a word scramble. Each one brings its own settings with it, so picking a game changes the controls rather than burying them.
What the six are
- Left right passing game: a Christmas story with the words LEFT and RIGHT through it, read aloud while everyone passes a parcel. Three stories to choose from.
- Scavenger hunt: twenty things to find with a tick box each, indoors or out and about, or both on two sheets.
- Charades cards: twelve or sixteen to a sheet with dashed cut lines, in a children, mixed or trickier set.
- Would you rather: fourteen to twenty numbered pairs of festive options.
- Mad libs: a word bank to fill in blind, then a story that uses the words. Three stories.
- Word scramble: sixteen to twenty shuffled Christmas words with a line to write the answer, and an answer key.
Picking by group rather than by name
For a room with a wide age range, the passing game is the one that works, because nobody has to be clever and everybody is doing the same thing at the same time. For a table of adults after a meal, would you rather and the trickier charades set run themselves with no explaining.
For children on their own, the scavenger hunt and the word scramble need no adult once the sheet is handed over. Mad libs sits between the two: an adult reads it out at the end, and that reading is most of the fun.
Printing a set for a party
Charades and the scavenger hunt need a copy each or a copy per team. Everything else needs one copy, because somebody reads it to the room. That is a useful thing to settle before you start the printer.
All six sheets are line work and text with no filled artwork, so a full set costs almost nothing in ink. Print at 100 percent scaling rather than Fit to Page so the charades cut lines keep their margin.
Questions
- What games are on this page?
- Six: the left right passing game, a Christmas scavenger hunt, charades cards to cut up, would you rather, a mad libs story with a word bank, and a word scramble with an answer key.
- Are the printable Christmas games free?
- Yes. All six print and download free with no account and no watermark, and you can run off as many copies as a party, a class or an office needs.
- Which game suits a mixed age group?
- The left right passing game. Everyone sits in a circle with a parcel and passes it on each LEFT and RIGHT in the story, so a four year old and a grandparent take part on equal terms.
- How many copies do I need to print?
- One for most of them, because somebody reads the sheet out. Charades and the scavenger hunt are the exceptions and want a copy each, or one per team if you are splitting the room.
- Do any of them use named characters or films?
- No. The charades cards describe generic scenes and actions such as a snowman melting or wrapping a present badly, and the carols are referred to by what they are about rather than by title.
