Make itPick by subject
Thirteen subject pages cover the things people actually search for in December: Santa, gingerbread men, Christmas trees, the nativity, elves, baubles, reindeer, stockings, wreaths, stars, village scenes, angels and mandala patterns. Each one has several designs rather than a single picture, so a child can work through a set without repeating.
If you are not looking for a particular subject, the audience pages are a faster route. They mix subjects and sort by how much detail is in the drawing, which is usually the thing that decides whether a sheet holds a child's attention or frustrates them.
Line weight is the setting that matters
Every sheet lets you set the outline weight. Thick outlines with large open shapes suit crayons and small hands, because the colour stays roughly inside the lines even when the hand does not. Fine outlines with small enclosed areas suit pencils, gel pens and fineliners, and they are what adult colourists are usually after.
The same control is why one page can serve a nursery and a quiet evening. Set the weight to its heaviest for a two year old and its lightest for a detailed mandala, and print both from the same generator.
Printing a set for a group
For a class or a party table, print in greyscale and set scaling to 100 percent or Actual Size. Fit to Page shrinks the sheet by a few millimetres and leaves a wider white border, which looks fine on one page and obviously inconsistent across thirty.
Plain 80gsm copier paper is fine for pencils. If children will use felt tips or markers, 100gsm or 120gsm stops the ink bleeding through onto the table and through to the sheet underneath.
Spelling, because both markets search here
British and Irish visitors look for Christmas colouring pages. American and Canadian visitors look for Christmas coloring pages. They are the same sheets. The site uses the British spelling in headings and the American spelling in a few places where it would read oddly to change it.
Questions
- Are these Christmas colouring pages really free?
- Yes. Every colouring sheet is free to print and free to download as a PDF. There is no account, no email signup and no watermark across the artwork.
- Can I print these for a whole class?
- Yes. Classroom, nursery, library and church group printing is allowed, with no limit on the number of copies. You may not sell the sheets or upload the files to another website.
- Which sheets suit a three year old?
- Use the preschool page or set the line weight to its heaviest on any subject page. Thick outlines and large open shapes are far easier for a small hand than a detailed scene with narrow gaps.
- Will the PDF print at A3 or A5?
- Yes. The artwork is vector, not a photograph of a drawing, so it stays crisp at any size. Print the A4 PDF onto A3 and the outlines scale cleanly rather than pixelating.
- Do I need colour ink?
- No. The sheets are line art, so print in black and white or greyscale. That also saves a surprising amount of ink when you are running off a stack of them.
