Christmas Stocking Colouring Pages

Seven stocking designs, including three plain shapes with a wide cuff that children can decorate and write a name across. The filled stocking has a candy cane, an orange, a small parcel and a teddy showing at the top, which gives several separate objects to colour on one sheet.

The name banner version

One design has a blank banner across the cuff. Written in before printing or filled in by hand afterwards, it turns the sheet into a personalised stocking for a wall or a bedroom door. For a class, it is a quick way to give every child something with their own name on it.

The letters are easier to keep neat if children colour the stocking first and write the name last. Pencil the name faintly, then go over it, rather than committing to felt tip straight away.

Patterns and cuffs

The patterned designs use argyle, fair isle bands, candy cane stripes and a snowflake repeat. Fair isle in particular is a good sheet for a child who likes order, because the bands repeat and the colour choices carry across the stocking.

The cuff is drawn as a separate region on every design, so it can take a contrasting colour. White cuffs left uncoloured against a strong red or green read as fur without any work.

Cutting out and hanging

On 160gsm card a stocking cuts out in one pass and will stand on a shelf or hang from a hook punched through the cuff. Print the plain designs for this, since the patterned ones lose their detail once a child has cut close to the outline.

Questions

Is there a plain stocking outline to decorate?
Yes. Three of the seven designs are plain stocking shapes with a wide cuff and no interior pattern, so children can invent their own decoration.
Can I add a name to the stocking?
Yes. One design has a blank banner across the cuff for a name, and the plain designs leave the whole body free to write across.
Will the stocking cut out cleanly?
Yes, on 160gsm card. The outer outline is a single continuous line with no narrow notches, so it cuts in one pass without tearing.
Is this the same as the stocking template?
No. These sheets are for colouring and include interior detail. The stocking template is a plain cutting outline sized for card and fabric, with no inner lines.
