How hard is hard
The twelve sheets here are the densest the generator will produce. Gaps go down to 1.2mm, which is narrower than a standard felt tip can respect, and region counts run between four hundred and six hundred. You will need a sharp point and good light.
If a sheet looks too much, lower the detail setting rather than picking a different design. The composition stays the same and only the subdivision reduces, so you keep the drawing you wanted at a level you will finish.
Working on a dense sheet
Plan a palette before you start. On a sheet with five hundred regions, choosing colour by colour as you go produces a muddle, and there is too much work invested to start again. Three or four colours plus one metallic is plenty.
Work in sections and finish each one. Top left to bottom right keeps your hand off completed work and stops graphite and gel ink smearing, which is the most common way a long sheet gets ruined at the end.
Print settings that matter at this scale
Use 100 percent scaling, greyscale, highest quality, and 160gsm paper if your printer takes it. Draft mode breaks a 0.4mm line into dots, and once a line has gaps in it, ink runs between regions and the pattern stops reading.
A3 is worth considering. The same PDF at A3 keeps every detail but makes each region about forty percent larger, which turns an uncomfortable sheet into an enjoyable one.
Questions
- How many regions are on a detailed sheet?
- Between four hundred and six hundred, with line weights around 0.4mm and gaps down to 1.2mm. Expect two to four hours per sheet.
- Can I reduce the difficulty without changing design?
- Yes. Lowering the detail setting keeps the same composition and reduces the subdivision, so you get a less dense version of the drawing you chose.
- Why does my printer lose some of the thin lines?
- Draft mode. It thins a 0.4mm line into a broken dotted line, which lets ink run between regions. Print at highest quality with 100 percent scaling instead.
- Should I print these at A3?
- If you can, yes. A3 keeps every detail and makes each region roughly forty percent larger, which makes the fine work much more comfortable without simplifying the sheet.
