Christmas Quiz Questions and Answers

The question bank itself, rather than a ready-made quiz. Print fifty at a time grouped by topic, with answers alongside, so you can pick the ones that suit your group instead of taking what you are given. Useful if you are writing your own rounds.

What is in the bank

Around three hundred questions across eight topics: traditions and origins, food and drink, carols and music, films and television, geography and weather, history, language and words, and numbers and dates. Each one is tagged easy, medium or hard.

Topics are weighted the way a real quiz is: more on traditions and food than on anything else, because those are the rounds where everyone can have a go. The history and language questions are the ones to use sparingly.

Why you might want the bank rather than a quiz

If you are running a quiz for a group you know, picking questions yourself is much better than taking twenty at random. You can avoid the topic one person always wins, include two questions aimed at someone specific, and keep the difficulty rising rather than jumping about.

Print the bank with answers alongside and mark the ones you want. Then build the player sheet on the printable quiz page with your chosen count and difficulty.

Accuracy

Questions are checked against reference sources and dates are given as commonly accepted rather than disputed. Where a fact genuinely has two versions, for instance which year a tradition started depending on which country you count, the answer sheet says so rather than picking one and causing an argument.

Questions

How many Christmas quiz questions are there?
Around three hundred in the bank, across eight topics, each tagged easy, medium or hard. You can print fifty at a time grouped by topic with answers alongside.
What topics are covered?
Traditions and origins, food and drink, carols and music, films and television, geography and weather, history, language and words, and numbers and dates.
Can I pick my own questions for a quiz?
Yes, which is what this page is for. Print the bank with answers, mark the ones you want, then use the printable quiz page to produce the player sheet.
Are the answers reliable?
They are checked against reference sources. Where a fact has more than one commonly cited version, the answer sheet says so instead of picking one, which saves an argument during marking.
