Six worksheet makers sharing one pool of winter pictures. Pick the sheet from the chooser above the paper, set the difficulty, then print it or save the PDF. A new version is drawn every time the page opens and every time you press Regenerate.
The six sheets
- Counting: six, eight or nine framed boxes, each holding a scattered group of one picture and an empty circle for the number. Counts cap at five, ten or twelve.
- Maths: sixteen sums in picture frames, within 10, within 20 or set out in columns for two digit work, adding, taking away or mixed.
- Tracing: dotted words on a three line handwriting band with the matching picture at the start of each row, five to seven rows, in small letters or capitals.
- Matching: two columns of dots to join with a pencil line, pairing each picture with its word, with the same object drawn differently, or with a number.
- Cut and paste: six or eight labelled boxes at the top and the same number of picture tiles along a dashed cut line at the foot of the sheet.
- I spy: a field of scattered pictures with a key down the side and a box for each total, four, six or eight pictures to find.
Winter all the way through, not Christmas with the words taken out
The picture pool was drawn up from the artwork rather than by deleting festive words from the Christmas list, which is the difference between a sheet you can hand out in January and one a child spots straight away. Twelve subjects are in it: snowman, penguin, polar bear, seal, snowy owl, sled, bobble hat, ice skate, mitten, snowflake, cocoa and dog.
Three obvious winter things are deliberately missing, and the reason is in the drawings. The robin stands next to a sprig of holly on most versions, the cat has a bauble on the floor beside it, and both snow globes have a fir tree inside the glass. None of them would survive a February display, so none of them are in the pool.
Answers, and a different sheet every time
Five of the six put a marked answer page second: counting, maths, matching, cut and paste and I spy all print the correct numbers or the correct lines in red. Tracing has nothing to mark, so it comes out as a single page. The Answer sheet control switches the extra page off when you are printing a class set and do not want to double the paper.
Regenerate redraws the sums, the words, the pictures and where they sit while leaving your settings alone, so two children at the same table can have different sheets of the same difficulty. Both A4 and US Letter are supported, and the margins are recalculated for the size you choose rather than the page being scaled down.
Questions
- What winter worksheets are included?
- Six: counting boxes, addition and subtraction sums, word tracing on handwriting guidelines, a two column matching sheet, a cut and paste sorting sheet and an I spy counting field. Each has its own settings above the paper.
- Are these just Christmas worksheets with the pictures swapped?
- No. The picture pool was built from the drawings themselves, so anything with holly, a bauble or a fir tree in it was left out even where the subject sounds wintry. The robin, the cat and the snow globe all failed on that test.
- Do the winter worksheets come with answers?
- Five of the six do, on a second page marked in red: counting, maths, matching, cut and paste and I spy. Tracing has nothing to mark against, so it prints as one page on its own.
- What ages do these suit?
- Counting, tracing and matching work from about four with an adult reading the instruction. Maths covers roughly five to eight depending on the number range, and the I spy field holds the attention of a seven or eight year old at its largest setting.
- Can two children have different versions of the same sheet?
- Yes. Press Regenerate above the paper and the pictures, numbers and layout are drawn again while the difficulty, the number of boxes and the paper size stay exactly where you set them.
